BLUESKY CASE STUDY

OVERVIEW

Why does striping your asphalt matter? In the greater scheme of things, parking lot striping plays an important role in your brand and business’s overall function. The main reason why parking lot striping is important is that it adds to its first impression. Prospective customers appreciate attractive and well-maintained parking lots for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons may include a more welcoming feeling, a cleaner appearance, and the feeling of safety due to the organization and flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

When resorting to high-volume concrete repairs and projects, a national paving company with a larger reach is the most ideal in maintaining quality while delivering the projects on time and within the projected budget.

APPROACH

Assess

A recent client needed repairs for several parking lot properties spanning across the nation. The challenge they came across was finding a qualified and reliable paving professional to handle their large-scale operations within a short window of 60-days. Additionally, the client struggled with a prior partner in a paving program the year before, resulting in a poorly executed scope, which included misaligned handicap markers, uneven striping lines, and an overall unfinished appearance that prompted a lot of frustration and worry as the client moved into their next initiative. The client had a strict budget of $3,300,000 to fix their parking lots, and due to the properties being in the upper Midwest and Northeast, the weather provided another hurdle to overcome. When resorting to high-volume concrete repairs and projects, a national paving company with a larger reach is the most ideal in maintaining quality while delivering the projects on time and within the projected budget.

Parking lots with small square footage do not typically require much time to paint. Still, national portfolios that number in the hundreds or even thousands require a significant amount of coordination and a large number of resources to execute within (what is often) a limited window of time.

Execution

Parking lots with small square footage do not typically require much time to paint. Still, national portfolios that number in the hundreds or even thousands require a significant amount of coordination and a large number of resources to execute within (what is often) a limited window of time.

We first had to develop a project plan to coordinate our team of Project Managers (PMs) who would be managing these projects on the ground. Then, we needed to build out individual service plans for each property, as the work would require multiple nights and the closing of portions of the lot each day. Once the work started on each property, we had to let the newly poured concrete cure quickly using specialized additives. This way, when the line striping process began, we were well-positioned to line stripe the asphalt quickly.

After that, the finishing touches were added: colors and proper legal markings. Since customer service is our highest priority, and the client’s experience was of the utmost importance, we could complete each phase quickly and safely. We were able to complete line striping for all parking lot properties under the given budget and the given time.

Satisfaction

Our sealcoat and line striping execution obtained positive results for the client through an optimized and well-organized project plan. We reduced the client’s budget by more than 7% while reducing closures on their lots by more than 40% through proper planning. We also made sure their daily business was uninterrupted by creating optional parking areas to ensure they stayed operational 100% of the time.
